DR Day 2 - Friday April 13th

It was very nice to wake up and be able to go out in the back yard and take photos of so many beautiful flowers and interesting things.

I could hear the birds singing in the trees behind the yard and the butterflies teased me by flying so close, but not sitting still.

Rebecca and I did a bit of swimming and I think Don and Bryn came in the pool some too.
It was so nice and warm in the morning sunshine.

After we had a bit of breakfast and enjoyed a slow and relaxed morning, we got ready to go and explore a bit of the town of Puerto Plata.

I would love to have this start to my day each morning
Rebecca doing her laps
The only butterfly that sat still for a few seconds
Vivid colours were all around
Where is Bryn?
Our vacation house in Sosua for the first couple of days
I called this one the Don Quiote house
I might like to stay in this house one time - I love the colour
It was a nice, safe campus
Too bad this sign was not down at the main road to guide us in
A river on the way back to town
We all read the sign and thought of Toys R Us at home
Our lunch time restaurant- first time to try out our Spanish skills in town and order some drinks and pizza.  It was a nice place but we were the only patrons
The fire hall down by the ocean
At the old fort
Fort San Felipe
One little stand with things to buy
Rebecca wanted to try some dulce con leche and the boy in the orange shirt got the money much to the older guys chagrin, as he certainly did try hard to get any of us to buy his maracas
Sorry, too much money
Glad I got her picture - and no I did not want a ride

Dominican Republic Day 1

We arrived in Dominican Republic
and immediately loved the warm embrace of the sunshine and breezes.
What joy and surprise filled us as we found out that Anita, Aneury and Abdiel and Cindy were waiting curb side, to smother Bryn with hugs and happy hellos to all of us.
They were such good friends in Egypt and continue to be now, a year later.
Bryn was Cindy's preschool teacher in Cairo.

Anita and Bryn are reunited. Oh and Cindy is too.
Such a glad reunion
Love this - will be a lot of this in Heaven with no goodbyes any more
cute kids - no idea what the box is for at the airport
Anita is visiting with us as we are waiting for Don to get the key for our place and we are in our car too trying to keep a bit cool.

Once we loaded up all of our luggage into our rental car we found two extra pieces that did not fit in too well.
Since A and A were planning to help us find our Casa Linda home away from home and visiting for a bit there, they kindly took our extra bags in their car.
What a help that was.

It was a bit hard to find our place but they kept on stopping and asking people and finally we got to the right road and the right place.

What a beautiful spot
Just before they jumped in
this is just after Abdiel ran right straight into the very clean patio door and smacked his head.  poor boy.  i was so glad he did not loosen any of his wonderful teeth
Pretty way to making the bedspread and towels up on the bed.  this was Rebecca and Bryn's room at the front of the house
it did not take long at all for the kids to jump in the pool in the back yard.  bryn soon joined them while i enjoyed taking their pictures
Bryn gave them a few new things and Cindy is here with her new top and skirt.  Bryn was so happy to see her again.
Visiting on our back porch - what a great place to get acquainted
Friends with smiles miles big

off to Sarasota continued...

So restful to sit and watch the water swirl and twist around these moss covered rocks.
Daughter and Dad
A sandpiper to bring you joy... as in the name of a favourite story I have read.
I just love these colours.
Our new shoes.
Beach wedding almost over.
