And one more...

Today I went to see my PT.
As we were talking I mentioned that I made a green shake and did not enjoy the kale in it too much.
He happily told me how he makes his green drink and brought out his cup to show me.

I tried to recreate it at home this evening and hope I got it all. I think I added a few more fruits then he did.

Spinach smoothie:
that is all -  raspberries, blueberries, a kiwi, strawberries, spinach ( cooked in the micro wave for about two minutes to get something, I do not remember what, to come out of it) and a banana ( it was supposed to be frozen but I did not give it enough time in the freezer and it would have been better frozen)
another view to make sure you see all the good stuff
the fun part for me
the pretty is all gone but the taste is there
his and hers
thanks to Don for taking this of me enjoying for you to see
we drank it up
and it was good
way better then kale

Another fun food creation

Pinterest is all the fun it seems like now.
Well, not all, but a lot of people are on board.
This was one of the items I pinned on there.

Thought I would make it as it is so easy and fun.
I love raspberries too.

Try it yourself and see what you think.

raspberries, white chipits and milk chocolate chipits
fill each raspberry with a little bit of chocolate or a marshmallow
simple and tasty...  surely not too bad of a treat

Bible Verse for February 23rd, 2012

Week 6

It is the day to choose my new Bible text to memorize.

Since I have been in the kitchen a lot of this afternoon making interesting creations, I decided on a verse to go along with that.

Psalms 34:8 says:
"Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good:  blessed is the man (woman) that trusteth in Him. "

I knew how to repeat the first part of this verse but faltered on the second part.
It is a good verse to think on often in the coming days.

My first creation today was Cauliflower Soup.
So easy and so tasty.
I made it for my friend, Jackie and her family.

most of the ingredients... just add the garlic
boil it together for about 20 minutes with some salt and chicken style seasoning to your taste
the green pot helps to make it taste even better
after blended and added back to the pot
ready to consume
add some fresh home made bread my friend gave me... and enjoy

Sabbath - Feb 18th

More fresh snow!!
our snowy pond at our church
it melted before we left - mostly

I was surprised to hear that but it sure did look pretty and clean.
We went to church and had a very nice service and then we headed home to enjoy a lovely meal.
Funny thing was that I got full way quicker then I had planned.
The left over cauliflower soup was divided out and superlinks with no- oil- fried -onions made our lunch complete.
DQ drank some of the left over kale drink and I enjoyed water.
We went to visit Auntie Beth and sang songs with her after I read her two mission stories and another one in Chicken Soup for the Soul.  She repeated a long Bible verse and we prayed together.   It was nice since she had not made it to church today.

a most cheery lady - my auntie Beth
Then we went to KGH to visit a friend who has been in for a week and then came home only to have to go back in again. Poor lady, eh. Our friend was just taking the husband home when we got there and another couple of our friends were up in the room. We enjoyed another round of singing together. She requested "Because He Lives" and we all joined in singing. She has a very nice voice. Then we held hands and had a prayer, she adding her own thoughts to the end of our friend's prayer.

When we came out of the hospital and were walking to the truck, we heard this really high pitched different sound. It was getting louder but we did not see any bird or animal near by. Finally I saw a small parade coming down the street! Was I ever glad I am a camera carrying lady. They seemed to enjoy me taking their picture. This enthusiastic group of children and I think, their parents, were celebrating Mardi Gras with their little, brightly coloured kazoos.

February 17th - A Friday

Today I wanted to try a few new recipes.
We are trying to get healthier and are game for new ideas.

Mum asked me to buy them two lemons yesterday.   They were for adding to a morning glass of water.  Today I read about how good it was for our bodies to have this kind of lemon water first thing in the morning.
Since I had all the ingredients on hand - water from the tap and a lemon from the fridge - it was quite easy to make.

It was so refreshing I think I will try it again tomorrow.

One recipes I saw and wanted to try was easy. It was for Cauliflower Soup. 0 points.
The simple recipe was to boil together a head of cauliflower, diced onions, sliced carrots, garlic cloves, with a few seasonings. (Hope I did not forget one or two things.)
Then scoop out the veggies and put in a blender and blend well.
Add back into the broth and add a small amount (two T) of fat-free evaporated milk.
It was delicious and I am wanting to make more.

The next recipe was for a green drink.
Since I do not have a juicer as yet, I used my trusty Bosch blender.
Into the blender I put half a lemon, skin and all, two apples, ice, two stalks of celery, and cucumber... all was still good and the tiny bit that flew out of the blender onto the surface beside me tasted great.
Then I added the last ingredient and it was not so great any more to my taste buds. Kale.

Don drank his glassful all down and seemed to enjoy it.
I drank some and stopped.
I drank some more and added the second apple. I tried it again.
Hmmmm, I think I would rather eat my veggies in a soup - nice and hot.

Bible Verse for February 16th, 2012

Week 5

Today I woke up to see it snowing!
Yesterday was bright and sunny and warm.
Someone said they saw a person wearing shorts outside as it was so nice out.
On Monday when we did our warm ups outside in the parking lot the bees were following us around.
Now today we have a lot of snow again.
It is good because we will need all the moisture we can get so that the hot summer will not be so dry and have us worrying about fires.
Another good reason the snow is good, it is the winter season now and it looked so pretty.

Here are a few pictures of my snowy walk and then I will add my choice for memory work this week.

Driving home from the pool today
A perfect street - I think
I think the ducks knew I was there and came to see if I had bread to give them
Next time I will (if I remember)
Standing on a sidewalk downtown looking up into the tree to try and get the water droplets
Nice splash of colour in the snow

The memory verse for this week is:
"Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you.  Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid."
John 14: 27

What a beautiful verse. I think it fits in with the snow scenes of today.

We had a nice little jaunt to Abbotsford this past weekend.
Short and sweet.
Don had a meeting to attend and I went along for new photo ops.
Here are some of the results.

Bible Verse for February 9th, 2012

Week 4

Proverbs 3:5 & 6

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. See His will in all your do, and He will direct your paths."

If the path way is long and wide, He leads....

or if the pathway is narrow and short, He leads.
